i know it's a knock sensor but could it gone faulty because there is a back fire or miss fire wile reving down like a pop and today went to parts store and got off and when went to the car it didnt want to turn on

it must of went faulty and makes a back fire could this be because it retards the timming too much and sometimes dosent want to turn on and while stoping it goes dead but some times and when i get a big bump like it turns of o goes dead and turns lon again
