Car makes squealing noise at times

1996 Saturn SL2, 1.9L, 4 cylinder. My car makes a squealing noise at times when I first start it. Sometimes it starts when the car is idled, and sometimes I don't hear it until I put it in gear. Every once in awhile I'll hear it when I am at a stop light or when I run my A/C. In all instances, it is a loud squeal that goes for a short time while I am driving and then stops. What could this be?

Sounds like you serpentine belt, have you replaced it, is it time to replace, also check your idler pulleys make sure they worn out.

I replaced the belt, but not the idler. I'll give that a try. Thank You.
