Our SW2 hatch shock aborber seems to be allowing rainwater through into the interior where the absorber fastens to the car body. How can this be tightened or sealed to stop the leak?

If it threads into the body you can try a copper washer or maybe some teflon tape on the threads. Silicone rubber would work as well, but it neds to be clean and dry for that to set up
