1997 Other Saturn Models Recent Car Accident - HELP!

I was recently in an accident that totally took off my driver side fender and put a hole in my windshield. It also messed up the hood a little but it doesnt seem to be affecting anything. The car is sitting at a nearby dealership where they told me the damage amounts to approximately $2,000 but I had to drive it around for a couple days before I got a rental car. The insurance guys gave me 2 options: I can either take $3,000 and keep the car and get a salvage title. Or I can take $3,500 give or take and they keep the car. What do you think I should do?

I say, take the $3500 and get rid of the machine because you can easily find a comparable (before the accident) car for that price.

The caveat is: you didn't say what model vehicle and I can't tell where you are located. For me though, I would take the cash. I live in the Pacific NW (Seattle area) and a quick perusal of craigslist (for example) looking for Saturns and paying a max of $3500, I come up w/ some pretty nice cars. Also, this would give you an opportunity to try another type of vehicle if you didn't want another Saturn. Good luck!
