Aloha everyone! Here is my dilemma....
96 Saturn sl2 4 cyl 89k 2 door coupe. Car was running fine throughout the day. Engine started with no probelms. Sushi here - starbucks there - even the beach. Went to the store later that evening and car would not start. Lights, radio, gauge displays, ac blower, and horn fine-external lights and signal operating fine. Had tow truck jump still car would not respond to jump. Next day, had battery changed, all internal and external lights still fine and internal accesories operating but engine still will not turn. Only recent repair was 6 months ago had the starter changed.

Could be a bad starter/solenoid. Check for 12 volts at the small wire on the starter with key in crank position. If it has power then the starter needs to be replaced. If none, then get back to me and we will figure out where it stops.

Checked the fuses and the fuse box. My mech friend took a hammer and tapped onto the starter and nothing happened (don't know the rationale behind the tapping).

I noticed the part was still under waranty and will have it towed to the mechanic that fixed it.

Is there anything else I should watch out for?

If you didnt test for the power at the small wire, they could blame something else and charge you for it. Tapping on it will sometimes move the starter motor off the bad spot and make it work again. Could be a bad ignition switch or neutral safety switch, or even a bad starter relay if so equipped
