Transmission problem
1996 Other Saturn Models 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
----------------------------------------------------------------
Recently replaced clutch in saturn put it all back together but the drivers side trans axle will not slide in all the way..it is lined up properly and turns when the you put car into gear. Apon investigation with a tape measure I found that there is 3 3/4 inchs of space for it to slide back into the transmission but only 3 inches of the trans axle is sliding in..(no obstructions at all to the eye.. so hence its not seating into the seal at all.. so it will not hold tranny fluid.. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the side gear slipped out of possition, you'll need to remove the differential cover and re-align the side gears.
