I have a 96 SL2,I replaced the coolant temperature sensor. The fan will only come on when I turn on the A/C. Coolant is full. What could be the problem?

i would check the wiring from the sensor all the way back, may be bad internally.

you may also have to replace the coolant temperature switch.

how the fans work is from the coolant sensor, and when it is in the proper range the fans turn on to cool the engine, when the AC is on it usually turns on the other fan the help because of the increased load, which is an automatic feature which is being processed when you turn on the ac, therfore i feel the wiring is bad.
