1994 Other Saturn Models Lights dim and battery light comes

The lights in my sisters saturn will ocaisionally dim, and the battery light come on and off, i think i could be the alternator goin bad, but want to be sure before i go spend a hundred dollars

U can take it to the auto parts store and have the alternator tested for free like a autozone or some place like that.it sure sounds like ur alternator is going out or ur belt tensior is going out can u hear any belt squeling?if u have a multimeter u can try to use that to check it do u have a meter?let me know what u find.
