Could be a fuel leak. For safety check all fuel lines, filter, and connections.
What maintenece has been done? Plugs, wires, PCV valve, etc? Might just need a tuneup. Run a tank of fuel; injector cleaner thru also. I like chevron with techron myself.

Good luck and let us know. :)

Suggested Repair

Inspect fuel lines, the fuel filter, and all connections for leaks. Review basic maintenance such as plugs, wires, and the PCV valve, and consider a tune-up plus a tank of fuel injector cleaner.
