1993 Saturn L200 Over heating

The cooling fan will only kick on untill the temperature guage reaches the the red. And I already fixed the thermastat but that didnt fix the problem. I have been told its the fan switch if it is where is it located so I can fix it. Also is the fan switch the same as the fan relay or either the coolant temperature sending unit.

The coolant temperature gauge sending unit is located on rear of engine near coolant outlet. Also the coolant temperature sensor is in the same location
