1997 Saturn L100 knocking suddenly

if the knocking is that loud then u have a major engine problem or just a bad belt tensior or something like that.u need to listen to where its comming from the engine block or the belt area if its comming from the engine block area over by the exhaust manifold then u most likely have a rod knock.let me know what u find.if u dont know about cars then i would take it to a shop right away to have it looked at.
