2007 Saturn Ion oil filter and oil

Where is the oil filter located on the engine?
Are we suppose to use a synthetic oil ?

The oil filter is a cartirige stlye filter. If you open the hood there is a black cover with 26mm head on it. Its just to the right of the engine cover. You may have to buy a special socket to remove it. Once cover is off replace filter and o ring and reinstall. Most people are using synthetic bleds but. Mobile one 5w30 is probably your best choice.
