2003 Saturn Ion glowing catalytic converter

Hello. My catalytic converter was glowing red so my brother (a mechanic) replaced the converter, the spark plugs, and the air filter. The car is runner better now but the converter is still glowing red right at the attachment of the converter and the front muffler pipe coming out of the engine. I want to take it somewhere but as girl I don't want to get screwed. Also, I desperatly need my car right now, I drive less than three miles to work and school everyday, will I kill my car tomorrow if I drive it?? Thanks
