Replaced the water pump in my car recently and ever since there has been a weird ticking noise coming from the area by belt. It's not super loud but definitely new. When I run computer P0010 comes up which I believe is a wiring issue, since the previous owner tore apart the wiring harness under the hood. There are wires every which way, some look slightly damaged from no protection from engine/weather. Anyway, any ideas where it could be coming from? Also, when my water pump went out my temperature gauge never got hot, not one time, but my definitely got hot enough for smoke to come from under hood, and fan continue to run after the key was turned off. Why is that?

Hi,

Chances are you turned the engine off before too much coolant was lost preventing it from overheating.

Is the sound loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear? Also, make sure the serpentine belt is good and there isn't a small section of it isn't torn and hitting something.

If it is good, remove the belt and spin each of the belt-driven accessories to see if you can recreate the noise.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
