1996 Saab 900 Dome Light Doesnt go Out

1996 Saab 900 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

After the car is started the center dome light stays on for a while even after you start driving. Its acting like one of doors isn't shutting completely but they are. This is particularly distractive for night driving.

Is "door ajar" warning lamps on as well? If so then suspect faulty door ajar switch. These switches are found in the door jambs or inner door of each door and/or rear hatch. Try spraying some WD40 , or equivalent, into the door jambs to see if this temporarily fixes the issue.

The door switches are on the post where the close latches are. Is there something else located in the door hinges itself?

No, the switch is what turns the dome lights on for door ajar. Lubricate the switch and see if it helps.
