1995 Saab 900 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Convertable cover grinds and you have to help pull it up so the top will come out, same thing on closing and the top will not lock down when closing warring light says to check soft top.

I would start by accessing the pivot points on the frame of the top to check for worn parts or severe need of lubrication. I don't have an exploded view, but the dealer parts department may be able to supply that. Too much resistance is going to cause the mortor to burnout.

Not hearing the grinding makes it hard to say, but may have a problem in the motor already.
