Engine Cooling problem
1990 Saab 900 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Loss collant after returning from a 12 mile dive. With car cooled; inspected the upper and lower hoses; no leaks, flushed system, no leaks found. Pressure test
no loss of pressure during idle. Don't know if it will heat up while driving, afraid to drive it; any suggestions. The nearest Saab mechanic is 75 miles away.

Hi there,

The coolant can only go two places, an external leak, now have you tested the system with a radiator pressure tester? Don't rely on just running the engine, that may not show a minor leak. The other place is an internal leak, is the engine running rough at idle, any smoke from the exhaust, over heating. If you don't have the correct test gear, you will have to locate a mechanic who can help you, you should not need a Saab mechanic for the diagnosis.
