As I rolled into the driveway yesterday I started hearing some new noise from the engin. The steering wheel was getting stiff and I suspected low PS fluid. When I got out of the car is seemed to have dumped a bunch of PS fluid on the driveway.

I went off and bought some PS fluid and hose clamps to fix a broken hose or loose clamp. Then I went to follow the hoses out of the resevoir they all looked good. After filling up the fluid again I turned the car on and it slowly dripped just inboard of the front right wheel. When i reved the engine it dripped faster and when I tried to drive it a little and swing the wheel around, it just barfed the PS fluid all over the dirveway.

Even though I can’t specifically see it leak, I am thinking that it is the pump that has lost integrity. It seems to still pump, but not hold fluid. Here are my questions…

1) Does that make sense? Do pumps fail like that?
2) Should I replace the serpentine belt when I do this?
3) How do these pumps fail? Did I let the PS fluid get too low?

Thanks.
