My 2003 Saab 9-3 turbo 4cylinder is sputtering when I give it the gas, but levels off when it has accelerated. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the secondary air injection valve (incorrect air flow). Does that sound right and if it is will it cause further damage to the pump if I drive it 100 miles to a mechanic friend to have it replaced?

Thanks,
Rock

Hi what's up, sorry to say but it sound as if your secondary air injection pump is already damage, [filled with water residue ]u will need to replace both the pump & the valve with new gasket, but just to let u know the pump mostly work's when vehicle is first started for emission related concerns with cold starts.

I had the same problem. SAAB changed the air pump, valve and spark plugs. Totalling  688. The problem occured again after driving it out of the garage. They then stated it was the ionisation control module. Which it was. Get them to check that first as it is cheaper
