Do I need a special tool to remove this part?

no there is no special tool needed ,just release stab bar link first ,than remove 18mm nut from balljoint hit wiith hammer ,now move balljoint away from hub ,now take a t55 socket with airgun & remove bolt from rear swing arm section after that u will need two 15mm wrenchs to pull nut & bolt from subframe section ,& that is about it ,good luck.
