2000 Saab 9-3 repair Question Water Pump

There is a noise / rattle / pinging sound coming from the car. The mechanic says it needs a new water pump. Any thoughts on that?

ha bro what vehicle do you have because as far as i know & i do know there is no saab 9-3's out there with a v6 eng ,only the saab 9-5's or the very early 900 models came with the v6 engine ,please tell the correct vehicle if you want the correct fix .
