2000 Saab 9-3 repair Question 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 87K miles

Check engine light on about 75% of starts. OBD says fuel injector shorts on cyl 1/2. Since the light doesn't always come on, do you think this problem only startup? Car is at 87K (just had oil changed) and want to get to 90K routine maintenance before I take it in. Do you think this fuel injector short will cause the car to go into limp mode before then? Are then any negative ramifications about driving it until then? Thanks.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I would start with having a very close look at the injector harness plugs, looking foe any sign of corrosion and then doing a continuity check from the injector back to the ECU looking for a high resistance problem, I don't expect this to trigger a limp mode condition, but if it develop you may experience a permanent miss fire and on going tune issues, one other thing it may be is a sticky injector that frees up and starts to cycle correctly after it is energized and starts working from cold start conditions.
