The dashboard icons ABS, exclamation point in a triangle, etc. are lit up sometimes for days and then off at times for days. Could there be a poor connection, short, or something loose? My mechanic told me it the unit needed replacement and that it was very costly. (approx. $2k including labor)

Hello ... thanks for the donation .. much appreciated We would need the fault codes to give a diagnosis of the fault .. have the codes read by autozone or aamco next time the light is on and repost with full codes for more information .. it is very unusual for an ABS unit to have an intermittent fault it could be just a sensor or wire/connector .. usually when a control unit/module is bad the light stays on all the time ! hope this helps
