Good Evening, Unfortunately my 1999 Saab 9-3 TURBO will not start. My gas was really low but the on board computer said that I had 8 miles until empty. I woke up started the car went to get a cup of coffee tried to restart the car and it just cranked it wouldn't start. I know its not the battery, I added more gas thinking maybe my computer was wrong, and still nothing. Someone said maybe the gas was too low and it was sucking up sludge and dirt into the fuel injectors. IS THIS POSSIBLE AND WHATS MY NEXT STEP OTHER THAN CALLING A MECHANIC YET?

No start condition:

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard.

U have a crankshaft position sensor fault, fisrt check all related fuel pump & engine control module fuses if all good, get crank sensor replaced, also before that check fuel pressure, if u dont have a gauge on hand, locate fuel injector rail & this is if u have a black direct ignition cassette, if your's is red this does not apply, locate rail now, in the middle there is a black valve cap, remove cap & use a pen point to press center of valve if gas sprays then pump is good, so now replace crank sensor & drive away, good luck.
