1999 Saab 9-3 repair Question Battery Light on w/ Warning Sy

It started out last night on the drive home by showing the battery light. I parked the car and didn't drive it again until tonight. I drove 30 miles and by the time I got home the car died. The battery light was on, the warning symbol, brake light, abs, gearbox light. Then no power and it died.

Have the charging system checked to rule out the alternator
