Will not stay running, check engine and check gauges lights turn on

Car will start and run on its own for about 3 minutes then stalls out and won't restart until it has sit for about an hour. The check engine light and check gauges light both come on at the same time. It will also run rich when it is driven.

There are few items for this to happen. It could be a faulty coolant temperature sensor, could even be a crank sensor.
