Hi,
Has the check engine light come on while the engine is running? Also, what you described sounds like it could be a few different things. It could be related to fuel pressure, a vacuum leak, a partially plugged catalytic converter, and the crankshaft position sensor (as you mentioned). However, a crankshaft position sensor, when going bad, will usually cause the engine to stall and require you to wait until it cools off before restarting. They are affected by heat.
