Running lights

I understand daytime running lights, but why are there 3 settings, On, Parking, Off, if they all are the same?

Good morning,

The settings are:

"On". that is when they are on all the time in case of fog and bad weather.

"Parking". This is when they are on with the parking lights activated.

"Off". This is when the daytime is turned off completely.
