Running hot

I flushed the radiator took thermostat out and it still run hot. It has been sitting for two years.

Taking the thermostat out will make it run hot. It provides a restriction in the system so the coolant can absorb the heat from the heads and block.
How fast does it get hot and how hot does it actually get? Normal temperatures for a modern engine are around 210-220 degrees, some run hotter.
