I just fixed my catalytic converter and had plugs and wires replaced and had a oil change done on my car. There was a hole in the catalytic converter and I had it repaired. It was running perfect after that for a couple of weeks and now my rpm's are running extremely high with acceleration. In fifth gear at 45-50 mph in running at 2,500 rpm's. I have to take off slowly after coming to a complete stop to avoid excessive high run of rpm's and going up hill is a pain to slowly accelerate up.

Hey TESAANN76,

It sounds potentially like your clutch is slipping, when you try and accelerate up a hill do the revs rise with no acceleration?

Please read through the guide below, number 3. Engine `RPM racing.

The last part if the video below shows this:

If this is not your issue is your check engine light on?

If so please follow the guide below:

Report back on any fault codes you have stored.

Regards, Joe

No, it's not doing any of that. The gears shifts fine no grinding, clutch doesn't make any noise and does not feel any different at all. No check engine light is on either. Someone told me it could be the throttle position sensor or oxygen sensor. Does that sound like it would be right?

Hey TESAANN76,

Can you please read for codes and see what you have?

It sounds like it may be an issue with the Electronic throttle body.

I would start by inspecting the throttle and if needed cleaning, guide below.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/throttle-actuator-service

I would also try disconnecting the battery if you don't have access to a scanner. Leave the battery disconnected for fifteen seconds or more and then reconnect. The throttle should perform a relearn when you turn the ignition on after this.

Try driving after this disconnect and see if you get any change.

Regards, Joe
