My automatic Nissan Sentra, when I was applying my foot lightly to the gas, when it got to 2000 RPM, bounced around between about 1700 and 2000 RPM and would not go above 2000 RPM. It continued to bounce around until I released the gas pedal.

Have idle control motor function checked out, check for any vacuum leaks and get a scan done for any unresolved fault codes, start here.

1. New symptoms: Car started stalling occasionally at red lights and would set fault code P0115. Fluctuating RPM occurred after restarting engine.
2. I replaced ECT sensor.
3. Car ran well for a while and then repeated symptoms except no fault code.
4. Used OBD-II scanner and watched coolant temp while idling. I revved the engine a few times which eventually caused RPM to start fluctuating and now have fault codes P0115 and P1217 - "Engine coolant over temperature condition". The scanner max coolant temp was 400 deg F.

Question 1: Is the IAC still a likely suspect?
Question 2: What should I check next?

Could be more relevant to a TPI or air flow sensor fault, have these been checked and ruled out yet?
