2003 Other Rover Models Water Leak and Heater

I started losing water approx year ago. I had a new radiator and water pump fitted, also checks that pressure was ok and that head gasket was ok.
Since then I continue to lost water bit by bit and have to keep topping it up. At the same time the heater rarely works, occasionally it kicks in but not often. I think that both are linked as everything worked fine before losing water.

I would have the headgasket rechecked ?
