Does steel seal work in repairing head gaskets?. The coolant has a mayo deposit in thbe headser tank. It appears clear when released from the engine and rad. There is no coolant in the oil. Is there a product that could repair the gaket without splitting the engine?. I have a gasket set and head bolts but cant get at all the bolts and nuts to be able to remove the head. It is a Rover 216 DOHC engine.

Hi there,

These quick fixes at best do a temp sealing job, but if the head is damaged or the gasket the pressures and heat generated internally of the engine will continue to damage components and further failure will result, also these chemical sealants also can clog radiators and cause further problems, my advice is fix it properly and don't relay on chemical fixes.
