1997 Other Rover Models cooling system

air conditioning display shows open book. I had problem w/ display numbers fading & traded out whole new display unit all displays show clearly now. I took car into a rifridgeration shop to get system recharged & owner said system was full. The air conditioning comes on very infrequently. It works good when it kicks in but it will only come on typically after I've had car running for some time if it comes on at all.

The open book sign is telling you to consult your handbook .. have the car plugged into a diagnostic computer to locate the cause of the fault !
