Engine Cooling problem
2001 Rover 45 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

WHERE IS THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING. Daughters car had no heat in cab local garage said it was water pump which in turn required new timing belt (fair comment) collected 5 days later they said it was just the thermostat and charged her  £55. Now its overheating after after 10 miles smells of coolant and the expantion bottle is full to the top way past MAX. What I think is the thermostat housing shows no sign of any work since it left the factory. Thanks and sorry for going on so much

Thermostat is at the end of radiator hose on the head. Drain some coolant off. Check/replace the thermostat and flush the cooling system. Also have the cylinders compression tested !
