2003 Rover 25 Hazard Light switch themselves on

My Rover 25 has recently developed a problem whereas the hazard lights switch themselves on by themselves. When I press the hazard switch to try and deactivate them they still continue flash.

Also, I am sure this is related, when I lock the car, either by key or fob, the lights only flash once instead of the 3 flashes they used to.

Please can anyone offer any advice as I am completly stumped. thanks
