please can you help me i have just started a new job and my car has started to go seriously wrong i have called garages but they say without looking at it first they cant say how much it will cost. Trouble is that if i get it to a garage they can more or less charge me what they like as this has happened to me before. I am afraid if i get it there i wont be able to move it again. Anyway to the point, when i press the clutch pedal it simply wont go into gear its as if there is no clutch but the pedal is still springy the reason i ask is because i had a clutch go on me before on a rover 200 no less ! and the pedal just stayed down please can you help as i'm a single mother and this job means everything to me and my daughter sorry if you think i'm pulling the talent show sob story on you all that's not the case i just need a bit of help without getting forced into accepting a price which is sky high just because i can't move the car from the garage this has happened to me before and most garages i know if they see a woman they think they can just say a few long technical sounding words and name their price

sounds to me like the clutch has gone faulty and needs replacing i'm afraid .. should cost in the region of £350/400 to replace at an independant garage
