On start up van seems to rough idle and if revved blows a lot of black smoke, if drove in this state, van seems to find it difficult to get power for accelerating and just suddenly dies. When acceleration kicks in the van runs okay up until the time you start to decrease speed where then the shaking of the van starts again then you idling and the smoke starts again. This does not happen every time you start the engine sometimes it runs great from 6am to 3pm for example then it happens.

Hi Wayne,

It sounds like it could be one of two things, first the fuel pressure regulator could be leaking, I would remove the vacuum line and see if gas is present, if so the regulator is bad and needs to be replaced. Next would be a injector sticking open which will allow too much fuel into the engine and then make it stall. Here is a guide to help you test for both problems.

and

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Best, Ken
