rough idle, dies if not in motion

2000 FORD E-SERIES VAN
185,000 MILES • 4.2L • V6 • RWD • AUTOMATIC

Over night my 2000 e150 van went from smooth to wont hardly idle if in gear and dies at stop light unless its put in neutral and gas pedal is fluttered. Please help.

check for a vacuum leak and clean throttle plate on both sides and iac hole with choke cleaner. if it continues scan for codes and check fuel pressure with a gauge.

Also, is black smoke coming from the exhaust pipe?
