Van has had the following new parts: Head gasket, cylinder heads resurfaced, plugs, coils, wires, EGR, injectors, water pump, serpentine belt, alternator/battery, and fuel pump. All fluids are topped off and no signs of fluids mixing i.E oil in coolant.

Van has rough idle, slight exhaust smoke, not dense or heavy in color.
Also, slight smoke from the engine compartment. I have 2 DTC'S see photos.

Hello,

Sounds like an exhaust component was not tightened correctly, or there is a crack somewhere on that component on Bank 1. Were new manifold gaskets installed? EGR lines, okay? Catalytic converter gaskets, EGR gaskets, etc. Etc.

Do you have a shop vac? Something I like to do is use a shop vac to blow into the tail pipe while spraying the exhaust components with soapy water, the leak will prevent itself. An exhaust leak in front of the O2 sensor will be like a huge vacuum leak, and as it will increase the oxygen readings on that bank.

Let us know,
William

I replaced the intake/exhaust manifold and new EGR valve/tube. The only major leak I found was gasket after rear exhaust manifold before catalytic converter using shop vac/soapy water. See pic.

Hello,

Did you mean you replaced the manifolds or the manifold gaskets? In any case make sure to spray all the new components as well. If the engine overheated, it is possible the head warped on the exhaust side causing uneven fitment. However, if the leak you are showing here is before the oxygen sensor, which will throw things off on that bank. Regardless I would grab a gasket and recheck.

That gasket was replaced. Both heads were refurbished, and new head, intake and exhaust manifold gaskets were put in.

Sounds good. But don't forget to spray them too. Many times, I've had bad parts straight out of the box. Let's fix the current leak and go from there. Please let us know!
