I've been having an idle issue with my car where it fluctuates between 800 and 600 RPMs when at a stop sign or when I'm reversing etc. It has been doing this for a while and I have changed the PCV and ICV and nothing really has changed. There aren't any codes being thrown either so I'm kind of stumped. Any ideas you might have as to what's causing this?

I have seen the linear control solenoid cause this issue, is this the one you changed out? Check the diagrams below. Check out the diagrams (below). Please report back.

No, I haven't changed that out, would it cause idle to just jump up and down from 900ish RPMs down to like 600? Sometimes when I stop at a red light it feels like it's shutting off and sometimes it's stable.

I recently just changed the solenoid and it's still causing it to not shift down at high speeds and at one point it when into “limp” mode where even in drive it felt like I was not in neutral. Any ideas what else it could be? Maybe the other solenoid possibly?

No it did not, could it be the shifting solenoid? Or could it be that my transmission is going out?

I could be the transmission itself engaging and disengaging, have you checked the transmission fluid level or condition? If not, it could need a transmission service. here is a generic guide to help with specific instructions for your car in the diagrams below:

A/T Fluid

Type .................... Honda Premium Formula ATF
Capacities

A/T Fluid

Change .................... 2.7L (2.9 Qt)

Total .................... 5.9L (6.2 Qt)

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Could it be the shift control solenoid on the transmission?

Yep that can do it, or you have a bad torque converter. Can you try the engine idle problem in neutral and see if anything changes? Here is the converter clutch solenoid location in the diagrams below.

I know for certain its not the torque converter going bad since I recently changed it about a month ago, I just bought the clutch solenoid and will change it when possible.

Sounds good, let me know. Like I say if you try the car in neutral or park it will let you know for sure, I have seen rebuilt parts go bad.

So, I have changed the TCC solenoid and it seems like the idle is holding steady when I come to a stop but when in neutral it does shake a bit. Do you think the trans just going bad?

I don't think so, the engine has a rough idle now. This sounds like a new problem. Please post your new question here, you must be logged in.
