Hi,
Since the other bearing failed, there is a good chance there is excessive wear on that journal. To determine if there is excessive clearance, you need to use a product called plastigauge.
Plastigauge looks like a string. You place it over the rod bearing and then install and torque the bearing to the manufacturer's specification. Next, you remove the end cap and you will see that the plastigauge has been crushed. Based on how crushed it is determines if there is proper clearance or if it is excessive indicating excessive wear on either the bearing or journal.
