I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, the left outer tie rod and axle half shaft assembly need to be replaced. What risk do run if I continue to drive the car?

If a cv joint breaks, which is not common, the car won't move in any gear. If a tie rod end separates, that wheel will turn in whatever direction it wants to, and you'll sail into the ditch or oncoming traffic. Ford front-wheel-drive car owners are very familiar with that.
