I sent my car to a mechanic when it was having power problems, he said it had to be oxygen sensors, they were replaced, and the power issue was fixed but now when the car is put on reverse it does not reverse. We lifted it slightly to see if the wheels are turning and they turned but when on the ground it didn't drive. We then used a X-431 diagnostic tester, and we got an error code P0700. The mechanic also mentioned that when the car is on reverse the diagnostic tool reads as though the car is on neutral.

Nice work, that would be the problem then, if the gear range sensor does not detect the transmission is in reverse the PCM will not command the transmission to be in that gear. Here is how to change the gear range sensor (neutral safety switch out, then clear the codes after the repair which should fix the problem.

A P0700 code indicates a general transmission control system malfunction

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Yep, you can see the PCM is in the neutral state and not commanding the transmission to go into neutral. Please let me know what happens after the repairs.
