I bought this vehicle a couple weeks ago Air conditioner worked great but absolutely no heat. I heard the blend door actuator and then I had heat and no A/C. I took the actuator back out to see if for some reason I got a faulty one. When it is out air works great when it is in Heat works great. All fuses are good. What else could the problem be?

Hi Jennifer,

When you have the actuator removed, change the control from cold to hot and back and forth to see if the actuator responds in both directions. In other words, when you request heat, the actuator should turn in one direction. When you request cold air, it should turn in the opposite direction.

With it removed, see if that is happening and let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Does it move in any direction? Also, there are three different wiring schematics to review, but I need some info from you.

Take a look at the pic below and let me know which one you have. That way, I can see where the power is coming from. Also, do the other controls work? For example, can you change the airflow direction?

Take care.

Joe

Hi,

When we first hooked it up while out it started try to move a little bit then stopped. We even carefully took the new actuator apart and moved it all the way the other way. Still nothing. I can switch where air is blowing from and speed of fan. It is the Manual a/c circuit (without sliding roof).

Thank you

Hi,

At the actuator, there should be three wires. First, disconnect the actuator, locate the gray wire with a yellow tracer, and confirm there is battery voltage to it. The key must be in the on position when this is done.

If there is power, locate the black wire at the connector and check it for continuity to ground. The key doesn't need to be on for this.

Additionally, when you check the fuse in the central junction box, make sure there is power both to it and from it.

Here are two links to help:

Let me know what you find.
