I want to replace the wore out hinges that are welded on the driver's side front door with the new bolt on ones in a kit. Can tell me how to do this?

I've never used a bolt-on replacement hinge, and I'd be worried that there's no solid metal to drill holes into. Normally the hinge pin and upper and lower bushings are replaced. All auto parts stores have those parts.
