Replacing Struts with Unbuilt Struts?

I noticed a quite obnoxious noise from my struts and bought an unbuilt strut kit as I couldn't find any good prebuilt ones. I am now looking for advice on how to put them together. Some torque specs and instructions on putting them together would be great along with replacing the old ones with the new ones.
