I was changing my fuel filter out and ran into the problem of a rusted feed fuel line. I can’t seem to find any information on how to replace that line. I bought some steel repair line but the fit into the filter doesn’t seem tight enough. (3/8 line)

Hi,

I'm not sure what type of repair line was purchased. I attached a picture below. Is that how the new one is shaped where it installs into the filter? I ask because there is an O-ring inside the quick connect that seals against the flanged portion of the steel line. When installed properly, there will be a little movement, but if the O-ring is good and the pipe is the correct size and design, it shouldn't leak.

Let me know.

Joe

Thanks for the reply. The repair piece I purchased has a similar shape or flare out on it, but it doesn’t seem to lock in under the spring clips to hold it tight. I can pull straight out without pressing in the clips to release the line. I bought some other connections online and hope they will do the trick.

Hi,

Paul, inspect the retainer side of the connector. See if the O-ring is damaged, out of position, or if you notice any other portion of it damaged. The only thing I'm thinking of is if the new connector is a different length. That could prevent it from fully seating.

Let me know.

Joe
