replacing inner tie rod

Hello,

This inner tie rod comes with Axial joint.
In order to remove the inner tie rod, you will first have to remove the track rod.

I have attached the procedure for both below.
Note that you will need a puller in order to complete this. I have attached the puller info as well.

So, the axial joint is the track rod? which is the rod of the ball joint? why does it need to be removed? can't I loosen the nut between inner and outer and then loosen the inner and unscrew it from the outer?

can't find this puller based on tool number.

You might be able to loosen the nut between the inner and outer to remove. But it might not give you enough wiggle room to get the inner rod out.

That puller is Mercedes specific. And if I remember correctly, it might only be available through Mercedes.
You should be able to use other pullers that has different style jaws to use for pulling. Many of the parts store rents out tie rod pullers.

Can you tell me what we are trying to pull here so i know what tool to look for? If i remove the outer from the knuckle side what would prevent the inner from coming loose once i unscrew it from the outer?

I was unable to find a detailed schematic for this. If possible, take couple of pictures of the inner tie rod and that area.

Forgot to take pictures, Ugg. I went in and replaced it, no special tools whatever, probably one of the easiest inner tie rods to replace. Removed inner tie rod side using a big plumber wrench. Thanks for the help.
