I have taken the whole dash off to replace heater core, but I am unable to get to the old one off. Please help.

There is no special trick to get the heater core out on this vehicle. You got the hard part done of removing the dash.

I am struggling to get a black plastic casing out of the way of the old heater core to get access to it.

Were you able to get to all the fasteners that is holding it in place? The top ones can be tricky to get to.
